‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Kathleen Gati (Liesl Obrecht) Returns To GH-Is She Bringing Back Britt?

‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers confirm that Kathleen Gati, who plays Liesl Obrecht, is returning to GH. Last month, fans were equally shocked and excited to learn that Kelly Thiebaud was returning to the soap.

We still don’t know yet if she’ll be reprising her role as Britt Westbourne or if she’s playing an entirely new part.

Rumors are circulating that she may be part of Professor Henry Dalton’s (Daniel Goddard) research and show up as a clone of Britt. We know part of Dalton’s research involves cloning.

As silly as it sounds, remember, this is the soap that brought us the Casadine weather machine and Casey the alien.

That said, we have our suspicions that she’ll return as Britt. If our hunch proves correct, her mother, Liesl, comes with her.

We also think Liesl’s return is facilitated by Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr) e-mailing Liesl regarding Britt, which could mean that GH is retconning Rocco’s origin story the same way they did with Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton), Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zampogna) and the reveal that Giovanni Palmeri (Giovanni Mazza) is their son.

However, it could mean that Britt’s really alive and now has a chance to explain herself and her past actions to Rocco, which Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins Breuning) would absolutely hate. All the more reason to bring Britt back as far as we’re concerned.

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Liesl Has Ties To Several Characters On The Show

Kathleen Gati debuted on GH as Liesl Obrecht in 2012. She started as a villain, and over time her character evolved, which is the same case with Britt.

Liesl is an interesting character with ties to several other characters on the canvas. Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) is her niece, and the late Nathan West (Ryan Paevey), who was married to Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms), was her son.

Liesl is also the great aunt of Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen).  This means she’s related to her children, Wiley Corinthos (Viron Weaver) and Amelia Corinthos (Serenity and Sequoia Mork Macko).

Of course, Britt was her daughter, her beloved Britta. Sadly, Britt died in her mother’s arms after being poisoned by “The Hook.” Britt died a hero, saving Josslyn Jack’s (Eden McCoy) life.

When Liesl returns, she’ll likely have to answer Rocco’s questions about Britt. Also, how he came to be, which would make for some compelling drama.

Kathleen Gati hasn’t been on the GH canvas for 18 months. Liesl was last seen in December 2023. It will be so much fun to have her back, and hopefully, she’ll get to have Britt by her side once again.

The GH actress told Soap Opera Digest,

She said.

“The fans have been faithful, loyal, begging me to return, continuously asking when, oh when will I return. I am truly grateful and so happy that I can bring some story and entertainment back to them again through Obrecht! It means a lot to me. This is why I became an actor, to entertain people through story and characters.”

Gati concluded,

“I have so much gratitude, appreciation, and love for all my fans! Over the past thirteen years, each individual message has meant so much, even if I don’t or can’t respond to them all. The love, the support, the loyalty, the excitement upon my possible return, it touches my heart in a way I cannot truly express.”
