After going a perfect 2-0 in the first two preseason games, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever were back in action, facing the Atlanta Dream in the preseason finale.
Both teams went through some major changes over the offseason. The Fever added head coach Stephanie White while bringing in multiple WNBA All-Stars, including DeWanna Bonner (6x) and Natasha Howard (2x).
The Dream, on the other hand, replaced center Tina Charles with the 6-foot-9 Brittney Griner, who left the Phoenix Mercury in light of Diana Taurasi retiring.
Griner looked as good as ever in her Atlanta debut, recording 16 points and 10 rebounds in 19 minutes during their 80-70 win over the Washington Mystics. However, she did not last long against Clark and the Fever.

Griner started for the Dream against Indiana and showed off her long-range shooting, hitting a 24-foot 3-pointer less than 1:30 into the first quarter, the first points of the game.
However, after just two minutes of action, Griner was seen running back to the locker room, according to Indy Star’s Chloe Peterson.
“BG just ran back to the locker room about two minutes into the game,” Peterson wrote on X. “Didn’t look serious (considering the running), but something to monitor. Fast-paced game so far, as Dream lead 6-4.”
Turns out, Griner was ruled out for the remainder of the game. But it was nothing of concern, just a rest decision.
“Update: BG is done for the day. No injury, per Dream PR, just rest,” Peterson added.
Griner has been one of the best players in the WNBA since entering the league in 2013. The former Baylor star has averaged 17.7 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.6 blocks through her 11-year career.
Following the preseason finale, Griner and the Dream will open regular season play against the Mystics on May 16. Clark and the Fever will make their regular season debut one day after (May 17), hosting Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky.
