Sharon Osbourne shares why she thinks Whoopi Goldberg wasn’t fired from The View: “I’ll tell you why, because it’s the Jews, nobody gives a f**k”

Whew! Sharon Osborne believes there was some sort of double standard when Whoopi Goldberg came under fire for her holocaust comment and wasn’t fired from The View. Osbourne shared her thoughts on this while speaking by with The Times.

Osbourne, 68, implied that Whoopi’s controversial moment was a clear example of that when her rival show The Talk in March 2021 fired her for defending Piers Morgan during his war with Meghan Markle. Goldberg was able to keep her job despite saying in February this year that “The Holocaust wasn’t about race.”

Sharon Osborne told the outlet why she thinks Goldberg wasn’t fired from her show: “I’ll tell you why, because it’s the Jews, and nobody gives a f**k.” Osbourne, whose father Don Arden was Jewish, went on to note that she loved Goldberg on the show and argued for the hypocrisy of showbiz, rather than attacking her personally

As we previously reported earlier this year, The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg was suspended from the show for two weeks over her comments. A statement that was shared in February read, “Effective immediately, I am suspending Whoopi Goldberg for two weeks for her wrong and hurtful comments. While Whoopi has apologized, I’ve asked her to take time to reflect and learn about the impact of her comments. The entire ABC News organization stands in solidarity with our Jewish colleagues, friends, family, and communities,” wrote ABC News President Kim Godwin at the time.

Goldberg did apologize and said,
“It upset a lot of people, which was never ever, ever my intention,” she said. “I feel, being Black, when we talk about race, it’s a very different thing to me. So I said I thought the Holocaust wasn’t about race. And people got very angry and still are angry. I’m getting a lot of mail from folks and a lot of real anger. But I thought it was a salient discussion because as a Black person, I think of race as being something that I can see. So I see you and know what race you are…I thought it [the Holocaust] was more about man’s inhumanity to man…But people were very angry and said, ‘No, no, we are a race.’ I felt differently. I respect everything everyone is saying to me.”

In March 2021, it was confirmed that Sharon Osbourne had been permanently dismissed from The Talk as a result of the network’s recent investigation into her contentious on-air racism debate with fellow co-host Sheryl Underwood. On that now-infamous March 10 show, the daytime series’ hosting panel discussed whether British TV personality Piers Morgan’s comments about Meghan Markle were racist. Osbourne spoke in his defense and said that she would be considered racist for offering her support.

Osbourne “has decided to leave The Talk,” CBS said in a statement at the time. “After an internal review conducted during the show’s unplanned hiatus, the network has decided that Osbourne’s behavior toward her co-hosts during the March 10 episode did not align with our values for a respectful workplace.” Since then, she has scaled back with making her presence known but has recently started to making appearances again.
