Shannon Bream, born Shannon Noelle DePuy on December 23, 1970, in Tallahassee, Florida, has carved an impressive path from beauty pageants to becoming a leading figure in American journalism. Currently, she serves as the anchor of Fox News Sunday and is the network’s chief legal correspondent.
Early Life and Education
Raised in a family that valued education and faith, Bream’s mother, Linda, was a teacher, and her father, Ed DePuy, served as a Leon County Commissioner. Her upbringing instilled in her a strong work ethic and a passion for learning.
Bream attended Liberty University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management, graduating magna cum laude. During her time at Liberty, she won the title of Miss Virginia in 1990, which led to her participation in the Miss America 1991 pageant, where she placed in the top 10.
She later attended Florida State University College of Law, earning her Juris Doctor degree. While in law school, she won the Miss Florida USA title in 1995 and placed fourth in the Miss USA 1995 pageant.
Legal Career and Transition to Journalism
After law school, Bream practiced corporate law, focusing on race discrimination and sexual harassment cases. Her transition to journalism began when she interned at a local ABC affiliate while still practicing law. Her dedication and passion for storytelling led her to pursue a full-time career in broadcast journalism
Career at Fox News
Bream joined Fox News Channel in 2007 as a Washington D.C.-based correspondent covering the Supreme Court. She later became the anchor of Fox News @ Night, a position she held for five years. In 2022, Bream made history by becoming the first woman to anchor Fox News Sunday in its 26-year history.
Authorship and Personal Life
Beyond her journalism career, Bream is a bestselling author. Her debut book, The Women of the Bible Speak: The Wisdom of 16 Women and Their Lessons for Today, spent 15 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list, five of which at number one. She followed up with Mothers and Daughters of the Bible Speak and Love Stories of the Bible Speak, both of which also achieved bestseller status.
Bream is married to Sheldon Bream, whom she met while attending college. The couple enjoys traveling, fly fishing, and are enthusiastic college football fans.
