Deputies said they only saw their mother once a week when she, or an unknown individual, would drop off pre-packaged food at the porch. That was their only contact with the outside world.

When police arrived, the eldest child—a 15-year-old boy—reportedly contacted his mother to inform her about the police presence. Her response? She allegedly instructed him to hide his sisters. The girls locked themselves in the bathroom until deputies finally coaxed them out.
