An old video clip has resurfaced of Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green becoming unhappy about a suggestion from WNBA icon Lisa Leslie, to say the least.
Back in 2022, Draymond Green, Lisa Leslie and Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James appeared on “The Shop” and discussed multiple sports topics. Leslie talked about the WNBA’s financial issues and the well-documented pay gap, suggesting that NBA players should donate to the league.
“Maybe one night, y’all don’t go to the casinos,” Leslie said..
The four-time NBA champion took issue with that and passionately defended the NBA players’ support of the WNBA.
“I have something on this, though. It pisses me off. It pisses me off, because I don’t think there’s anyone in America that supports the WNBA more than NBA players. The NBA players support the WNBA, like, more than we probably support the f**king NBA. And it bothers me.”
Leslie agreed with Draymond Green’s take about the NBA’s support of the WNBA. She explained that at a Zoom call for the WNBA’s 25th anniversary celebration, she emphasized that NBA players don’t get enough love for their support of the women’s league.
“Our number one allies that have supported us from day one are the NBA players,” Leslie recalled saying on the Zoom call. “They tweet, they follow us, they come to our games. We don’t highlight them…you guys are targeting the wrong people.”
LeBron James will often take to X/Twitter to show his support and amazement of Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark. In 2020, All-Star guard Kyrie Irving donated $1.5 million to WNBA players who opted out of the season because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The so-called “Caitlin Clark effect” led to significant jumps in television ratings and attendance last year, so there’s good reason for long-term optimism regarding the WNBA’s future profits.

The Warriors re-emerged as a championship contender following the blockbuster trade for Miami Heat superstar Jimmy Butler. The Dubs upset the second-seeded Houston Rockets in round one but were ousted by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the conference semis, thwarting Golden State’s latest bid for a fifth title this century.
