The Indiana Fever has released a worrying update about Caitlin Clark following some injury news.

The sharpshooting guard is dealing with a left leg injury that has her listed as questionable for the team’s preseason opener against the Washington Mystics. The Fever are also scheduled to play the Brazil women’s national team at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa on Sunday, which would mark a return for Clark.

Fans who followed her college career are understandably keen to play on her old stomping ground again, but an appearance is now doubtful.

Clark spoke to reporters on Saturday morning and told them she was only feeling some tightness, though the coaching staff would decide whether she plays or not.

“Just a little tightness,” she said. “I’ll go through warmups and everything, and then they’ll decide if I’m gonna go or not. But it will be the medical team’s decision.”

New Fever head coach Stephanie White has since revealed that Caitlin’s status for Sunday is up in the air as the team is thinking long term.

White also noted that the team was “taking it day by day with rehab.”

Of course, the word “rehab” got folks talking as it suggests that things are more serious than being let on.

“Caitlin Clark? Rehab?” someone asked.

“it is sounding more serious than some “tightness”.  I mean…..    I dunno. Weird,” another offered.

“Damn, starting to sound serious…” said a third.

It would come as a massive blow if Clark needed to sit out a significant portion of the early WNBA season. Let’s hope her issue is not as severe as the Fever’s verbiage implies.
