Some disgruntled basketball fans are voicing their confusion over Angel Reese’s new shoe deal announcement.

In October, news broke that Angel Reese and Reebok agreed to a multi-year contract extension on her shoe deal. Reese is four games into her second WNA season with the Chicago Sky.

Reese is one of the most polarizing players in the WNBA, thanks to her outspoken ways and rivalry with Caitlin Clark, the biggest star in the league. So as you would expect, many basketball fans were baffled and angry over news of Reese’s shoe deal:

“Heard the first run was called the Brick 22s,” joked one fan.

“The most overhyped player of all time. Better get that bag now cause it gonna run out,” wrote a user.

“Can they put that Logo on a Brick?” asked a user.

“Has a worse player ever been given a signature shoe? Seriously asking…,” one fan asked.

“Shoe will be made of bricks,” joked a user.

“Will she be getting a statue in Times Square as well?” another asked.

Tell us how you really feel, Angel Reese critics.

The No. 7 pick of the 2024 WNBA Draft briefly set the single-season record for rebounds last year with 446, breaking the record that Sylvia Fowles set in 2018. Reese suffered a season-ending wrist injury, however, and Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson wound up breaking the record with 451.

In her rookie season, Reese averaged 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.3 steals per game. Reese shot 39.1 percent from the field, but that number has dropped to 31.0 through Chicago’s first four games of 2025.

Tuesday night’s 94-89 loss to the Phoenix Mercury dropped Chicago to 0-4 on the season. They have a home-and-home with the Dallas Wings that begins in the Windy City on Thursday, followed by a rematch against the Indiana Fever (likely to be without Caitlin Clark) on June 7.
