It was supposed to be another intense showdown between two rising WNBA teams. Instead, the game between Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever and Angel Reese’s Chicago Sky sparked serious concern well beyond the court. During the game, fans allegedly targeted Reese with racist taunts, including disturbing monkey noises from the stands. Now, the WNBA has launched an official investigation.
While the claims are serious, Fever guard Caitlin Clark admitted she didn’t personally hear anything during the game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The arena, packed with a lively crowd, was too loud for her to notice specific crowd noises. Still, Clark made it clear where she stands.
Clark Urges Respect And Accountability

Speaking to reporters this week, Clark addressed the situation with calm clarity. “It’s super loud in here, and though I didn’t hear anything, I think that’s why they’re doing the investigation,” she said.
“That doesn’t mean nothing happened, so I’ll just trust the league’s investigation, and I’m sure they’ll do the right thing.”
Clark didn’t shy away from the issue. She acknowledged the importance of holding fans accountable and praised both the WNBA and the Fever organization for taking action.
“There’s no place for that in our game, no place for that in our society,” she said. “We want every person that comes into our arena — whether player, whether fan — to have a great experience.”
Fever head coach Stephanie White backed that message. She emphasized that the team will fully cooperate with the investigation and urged players and staff to speak up if they see or hear anything inappropriate.
“There’s no place for that in our league, whether it’s at home, whether it’s on the road,” White said. “We want to encourage our players, our staff to bring recognition to it in real time.”
The WNBA has yet to release additional details, but officials confirmed the investigation remains active. Reese has not commented publicly, but her team knows the situation.
As the league determines what happened, the focus remains on ensuring a safe environment for all players. Clark’s words echoed what many around the league are calling for- a game built on respect, not division.
