Even if everybody denies the fact at this point that Caitlin Clark is the prime reason fans are tuning to WNBA games, the odds are really not in their favour.

Clark’s injury has really shaken things up for Indiana Fever fans and the ticket market lately.

After she suffered a left quad strain, ticket prices for the Fever’s next four games have taken quite a nosedive. Just last week, the average ticket price was $137, but now it’s dropped to about $80, that’s a hefty 71% decrease.

The road game against the Washington Mystics on May 28 saw ticket prices fall from $41 to just $14. The average ticket price for that game went from $115 down to $83.

And it’s a similar story for the matchup against the Chicago Sky on June 7, which was supposed to feature a much-hyped showdown with Angel Reese. Tickets that were selling for $86 have now slumped to $25.

Fans could previously expect to pay an average of $210, which has now dropped to $95.

Even the Fever’s home games are feeling the impact. The cheapest tickets for the Sun game on May 30 and the Mystics on June 3 are now available for as little as $13 and $11, respectively.

Indiana Fever Face Tough Road Ahead In Caitlin Clark’s Absence

The Fever announced that Caitlin Clark is sidelined for at least two weeks due to a left quadriceps strain. The star rookie sustained it during the game against the New York Liberty on May 24.

Head coach Stephanie White indicated that Clark will be reevaluated after this initial period, although her timeline for return is currently unclear.

Most thigh strains typically don’t require surgery. Those are focusing on rest and over-the-counter medications, according to the Mayo Clinic Orthopedics and Sports Medicine.

This injury marks the first time Clark has missed an official game since her sophomore year in high school back in 2017. While she has previously missed a preseason game due to a leg injury, this is a significant moment in her career.

During her absence, the Fever will face the Washington Mystics twice and the Connecticut Sun. Indiana ranks higher than both teams, with the Mystics currently ninth and the Sun at the bottom of the standings.

Additionally, there is a possibility that Clark could miss the anticipated rivalry game against the Chicago Sky on June 7.

In the meantime, 10-year veteran Sydney Colson will take over the starting point guard position. Colson joined the Fever in the offseason after winning two WNBA championships with the Las Vegas Aces.

The silver lining for Fever fans is the excitement surrounding Clark’s potential return. If she comes back for the game against the Atlanta Dream on June 10, ticket prices could soar.

Although it already reflects that buzz, the cheapest seat costs around $147. After that, the prices for games against teams like the Golden State Valkyries and Las Vegas Aces are starting at over $100.
