Caitlin Clark has delivered a strong message following the WNBA opening up an investigation into alleged racist remarks said to be thrown Angel Reese’s way by Fever fans during Saturday’s game against the Sky.
The Fever made easy work of their opening-day opponents over the weekend, running out to a 93-58 victory, with Clark recording a triple-double in her first appearance of the new season.
She also wasted no time reheating the feud between herself and Reese, committing a hard foul in the third quarter that brought a feisty reaction out of the Sky forward and resulted in a fine for her teammate, Aliyah Boston.
After the game, the WNBA put out a statement citing allegations of racist behavior.
“The WNBA strongly condemns racism, hate, and discrimination in all forms — they have no place in our league or in society. We are aware of the allegations and are looking into the matter,” it read.

The Fever star addressed the statement while speaking to reporters, backing the league’s decision to probe the matter.
“There’s no place for that in our game, there’s no place for that in society. Certainly, we want every person who comes into our arena — whether player or fan — to have a great experience. I appreciate the league doing that [investigation]. I appreciate that the Fever organization has been at the forefront of that,” she said, per ESPN.
“No type of hate is ever welcomed here. As a player you just have to stay strong and be able to call it out if something happens,” Boston added.
The league has not offered any clarification, and the allegations remain unfounded. However, Clark has made her stance on such behavior clear.
Reese, meanwhile, did not make any public complaints about being targeted and hasn’t addressed the WNBA’s statement herself.
