Skip Bayless wants a thorough investigation into what Brittney Griner allegedly said.

In late May 2025, viral social media posts claimed the Atlanta Dream star allegedly made racist comments toward Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark.

During the game, Griner appeared to talk smack about Caitlin Clark while sitting on the bench. A video of Griner seemed to show her say, “Trash f– king white girl.”

Some fans have been calling for the WNBA to take action on Griner. However, it’s been a couple of weeks, and nothing has happened.

Skip Bayless is tired of waiting. Many believe the league’s not doing enough to protect its young star. NBA analyst Skip Bayless shares that sentiment.

“I waited to comment on this until the WNBA was able to investigate it. I wanted them to issue a statement about it. But we have heard nothing from the WNBA, absolutely nothing. And Brittney Griner has not commented, which I find significant,” Bayless said on his self-titled show.

Bayless said the WNBA star’s alleged comments were “offensive” and warranted an investigation.

“I want to know, is the WNBA okay with one of its players saying [expletive] white girl on the bench and getting caught by TV cameras saying such? I guess they are. I guess they’re okay with it. Obviously, the league would very much not be okay with a white player saying ‘[expletive] Black girl’ on the bench in anger and getting caught by TV cameras. That would be an immediate suspension, if not a career-ender for said white girl. But because the league is 60 percent Black, that makes it okay for a Black player to say ‘[expletive] white girl’ in anger without repercussions?

“Just me, I find that phrase offensive. And I’ll bet a lot of white fans found it offensive, and maybe even some Black fans considered it offensive. Does the WNBA think that viral video of that remark was good for business?”

Clark hasn’t played basketball since May 24 due to a quad injury. Her last taste of victory came against the Atlanta Dream, which saw the Fever prevail 81-76.

Brittney Griner, one of the league’s top players, moved from the Phoenix Mercury to the Atlanta Dream this offseason. Griner spent the entirety of her career with the Mercury until her departure in free agency this offseason.

Skip Bayless is calling on the WNBA to investigate Brittney Griner’s comments, which he says were allegedly directed at Caitlin Clark.

Before Clark was sidelined with a quad injury, she led the Indiana Fever to an 81-76 victory over the Atlanta Dream last month. However, the game’s outcome was overshadowed by TV cameras catching Griner allegedly saying something racist toward her.

The WNBA did recently investigate alleged racist remarks from Fever fans directed at Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese and found no such evidence of hateful comments. Regarding Griner’s remarks, the WNBA has not publicly stated whether it has reviewed the issue.

Despite the uproar, Griner hasn’t spoken out or tried to defend herself at all.
