‘League is sick’ – Fired-up Caitlin Clark goes on attack with blunt message to WNBA haters amid raucous Fever celebrations

The Indiana Fever delivered on Caitlin Clark’s promise by winning the 2025 Commissioner’s Cup final.
Without their injured superstar, who has been forced to watch from the bench in recent weeks, Indiana secured a 74-59 victory over the Minnesota Lynx on Tuesday.

Natasha Howard put up a team-high 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Fever, and was named Cup MVP.
But it was not just Howard in fine form amid Clark’s absence, with the rest of the team stepping up too.
Aliyah Boston added 12 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, while the WNBA’s newest ‘enforcer’ Sophie Cunningham finished with 13 points and fellow guards Kelsey Mitchell and Aari McDonald had 12 points each.
Without Clark, there were fears that Indiana would struggle to establish themselves against a Minnesota team that boast a Western Conference-leading 14-2 record.
Indeed, the Fever trailed 20-12 at the end of the first quarter, but outscored the Lynx 20-7 in the second period, holding their opponents without a point for the final 8 minutes and 13 seconds of the first half.
They rallied in the second half, and held on to secure a big win on the road at Target Center in Minneapolis.
Clark, it seems, knew exactly what was coming.
On Sunday, as she was named a captain for the WNBA’s All-Star Game, the 23-year-old received a call from Commissioner Cathy Engelbert delivering that news.
Before hanging up, Engelbert wished Clark and the rest of the team luck for the Commissioner’s Cup Championship.
“Yeah, we about to get that dub, Cathy,” the Fever star responded.

And that’s exactly what her team did a couple of days later.
Indiana’s championship win sparked wild locker room celebrations, and while Clark was unable to feature in the game, she certainly revelled in the victory.
The team shared footage of players spraying each other with champagne, dancing around and drinking out of the trophy as if it was a chalice.
In one live stream of the festivities, Clark can be seen delivering a blunt message to the rest of the WNBA.
“Guys, I just know everybody in the league is sick,” she told her teammates.
Aliyah Boston, also standing with the group, added: “They’re p*****.”

Clark was so fired up amid the big victory that she also interrupted Boston’s post-game interview, running onto the court and screaming behind her.
Some of the more outrageous celebrations from the Fever on Tuesday night likely stem from the current narrative around the team.
While Clark was named All-Star Game captain, winning more fan votes than any other player in the WNBA, she ranked ninth among guards when accounting for the ballots cast by her fellow stars.
Many of her supporters have suggested the players’ vote was nothing short of disrespectful to a star who has helped transform the sport during her first two pro seasons.

Even Clark’s Fever teammates have adopted the ‘us vs the world’ mentality, suggesting that rival WNBA teams have their games circled each year.
“We’re marked on every team’s calendar. Nobody likes us,” Cunningham declared last month, embracing the idea that the Fever have become the league’s villains.
A dominant win in the Commissioner’s Cup final will likely further that narrative.
For the organization, though, the main priority will be getting Clark — who has now missed eight games through injury this season — back on the court.

Tuesday’s win was an example of how well Indiana can play even when she is sidelined, but there’s little doubt they are a stronger team when Clark is in the line up.
And after a strong message to the rest of the league, she will now have to back her words up on the floor.
