The Indiana Fever have officially arrived—and they made sure the entire WNBA knows it.
In a dominant and electrifying performance, Sophie Cunningham and Natasha Howard led the Indiana Fever to a resounding victory over the Minnesota Lynx to claim the 2025 Commissioner’s Cup title. The final score: 97–81.
From the opening tip-off, the Fever came out with fire, energy, and laser focus. Sophie Cunningham lit up the scoreboard early, dropping 14 points in the first quarter alone and setting the tone for what would become one of the most impressive wins in franchise history.
But it wasn’t just Cunningham’s night.
Veteran forward Natasha Howard played like a woman on a mission—crashing the boards, swatting shots, and delivering key buckets in the paint. Her versatility on both ends of the floor gave the Lynx problems all game long.
“This one meant a lot,” Cunningham said postgame. “People doubted us all season. But we believed in ourselves. And tonight, we proved we’re for real.”
Howard echoed the sentiment, adding: “We’re not just building for the future—we’re winning now.”
Caitlin Clark, the rookie sensation who’s been the face of the league all season, played a solid supporting role with 17 points and 9 assists, but this game belonged to the vets. It was Cunningham and Howard who carried the load when the Lynx tried to mount a comeback.
Minnesota, led by Napheesa Collier and Kayla McBride, fought hard, but the Fever’s energy and depth proved too much. Collier finished with 22 points, but the Lynx struggled to slow down Indiana’s relentless offensive attack.
What stood out most was Indiana’s defensive pressure. Howard and Aliyah Boston combined for 5 blocks, while Cunningham hounded ball handlers and forced multiple turnovers. The Fever out-rebounded the Lynx 42–31 and scored 22 fast-break points.
“This team’s chemistry is off the charts,” said head coach Christie Sides. “We’ve got the right mix of youth and experience, and tonight, they put it all together.”
The win marks Indiana’s first Commissioner’s Cup title and their biggest statement yet in the 2025 season. Once considered a rebuilding team, the Fever are now contenders—and everyone knows it.
With this win, the Fever also take home a $500,000 prize pool, split among players and staff, making the victory even sweeter.
The highlight reel from the game is already circulating on social media, especially Cunningham’s third-quarter heat-check—three straight three-pointers that sent the arena into a frenzy.
Fans flooded X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram with posts like, “Sophie was UNSTOPPABLE 🔥,” and “Natasha Howard still that girl. RESPECT.”
Even rival players chimed in, with several giving props to Indiana’s vets for their leadership and performance.
“Sophie’s a dog. Always has been,” said Las Vegas star Jackie Young. “Tonight, she showed why you can never sleep on her.”
As the Fever hoisted the Commissioner’s Cup trophy in front of a roaring crowd, the message was clear: this is no longer just Caitlin Clark’s team. This is a full, fearless squad—led by veterans who know how to win and are hungry for more.
