Mika dela Cruz opened up about leaving showbiz for good in a tearful and heartfelt testimony.
Mika, who was introduced to the entertainment industry as a child actress, painfully shared how she navigated through her life for the past four years. “The past four years were the worst years of my life. It was the hardest and lowest point in my life, and nobody knew about it. Eto yung masasabi ko na talagang sumadsad na ako,” she stated while breaking into tears, in a YouTube video uploaded on November 20, 2023.
She is the sister of another actress, Angelika dela Cruz, and was one of the first batches of the iconic kids’ show, Goin’ Bulilit. It was in 2019 when she starred in her last project, Kara Mia. After her last stint as an actress, she revealed weathering various obstacles in her life. Her father passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic, and Mika was diagnosed with serious health conditions.

“Tingin ng mga tao masaya, magarbo, madali ang buhay. Hindi naman namin napapakita kung ano yung nangyayari behind it,” the 25-year-old former celebrity said.
She expressed feeling restless and in constant search for her true identity. “Hindi nila alam na kinalakihan kong hanapin yung identity ko sa mundo, sa ibang tao. This became my source of restlessness. Alam ng pamilya ko ‘yan. I’ve been restless all my life,” Mika emotionally said.
“I wasn’t living anymore. I was merely existing. Andiyan na lang ako, inaagos na lang ako,” the former child actress added.
Mika needed rest from everything, so she left showbiz. She disclosed being diagnosed with a thyroid disease that had affected her memory and focus, even in her schoolwork. In 2015, she also shared that she was diagnosed with “incurable diseases.”
“Kung ano mangyari, wala na. Wala nang dreams, hopes, love, joy, wala na akong passion natira sa heart ko,” Mika expressed.
Now, she’s seeing herself and her life in a different light. Mika found rest and healing when her friends encouraged her to join a church fellowship. “I can confidently say that I finally found my rest. All along, it was in Him,” she noted.
Mika looks forward to a brighter future ahead of her, now that she is miraculously cleared from her “incurable diseases.” This is even outside the realms of the life she once grew up in, which is showbiz.
